“Studio ThusThat designs and makes with uncommon materials. Right now we are exploring industrial wastes from mining and metallurgy.”
Studio ThusThat led by Kevin Rouff and Paco Böckelmann demonstrates the potential of waste materials through in-depth research and collaborations with scientists and material experts. Their work has received widespread recognition, with pieces on display in the permanent collection of the London Design Museum and Design Museum Gent.
Featured at Dutch Design Week 2024, 925 explores the liquidity of value through silver. In this collection, Studio ThusThat uses the traditional technique of silver mirroring, chemically dissolving metal from old objects, heirlooms, wedding rings, tableware and coins to form their mirror series.
In previous collections, the duo have worked with aluminium offcuts from the early stage of production and slag, a byproduct of producing copper.
