REARRANGED/REPURPOSED: Modularity Within Spaces

REARRANGED/REPURPOSED: Modularity Within Spaces

There is an increasing need for flexibility in homes as they become smaller but also need to act as a multi-functional space. People are looking to entertain friends and family on weekends but need space to work and rest during the week.

One of the stand-out trends from Paris Design Week 2024 was Modular Furniture, which allows homeowners flexibility whilst creating a statement.

A perfect example of this is Henri Texier's "Grand Pas" 'a module for the daily life', which can be used as a stool, bedside table, end of a sofa, or coffee table. Grand Pas is the first module, from a larger collection which will include a bench, a chair, an entrance sideboard, a console, and a bookcase.

Based in Portugal, Project 213A created a statement with 'Porto', their metallic modular sofa, which channels a modern look and is handmade by expert craftsmen from their local area. Offering many possibilities in terms of customization, its different modules can be arranged and combined to fit any living space.

Established designer Axel Chay's collection for Pradier-Jeauneau offers flexibility and also taps into another big trend for 2024, the use of earthy tones and natural textures.
